Read the user guideIs bito.li really free?
Yes. Shortening links, custom aliases, QR codes, passwords, expiry and click statistics are all free. There is no paid plan and no sign-up required.
Do I need an account to shorten links?
No. Anyone can shorten links as a guest and manage each one with its secret code. A free account adds a dashboard that syncs across devices, a trash to restore deleted links, and a bio page.
Do my short links expire?
Only if you want them to. By default, links never expire. You can set an expiry after a number of minutes, hours or days, or after a number of clicks.
Can I choose my own short link?
Yes. Open Options and enter a custom alias such as bito.li/spring-sale. Aliases have 5–64 characters and are first come, first served.
How do I see how many people clicked my link?
Open the stats page at bito.li/d/ followed by your short code. It shows total clicks, QR scans, clicks per day, countries, cities, devices, browsers and referrers.
Can I change where a link goes after creating it?
Yes, for links in Full mode (the default). Use the secret code or your account to change the destination, password or expiry, or to delete the link. Stats only and None links cannot be changed.
How does bito.li keep links safe?
Every new link is checked against Google Safe Browsing and our blocklists. Harmful links are blocked and visitors see a warning page instead. You can report abuse at any time.
Is there an API?
Yes. The REST API lets you create links, read statistics and manage links without an API key. See the API reference for examples.
